Federal Work-Study Opportunities

Federal Work Study is a job program which gives part-time employment opportunities to students who show financial need. Students interested in Federal Work Study must complete the FAFSA and complete the work study application documents in the Financial Aid Office located in Wilson Hall. Work study positions are awarded on a first come, first serve basis. Work hours are usually before or after classes each day and students earn minimum wage while working 10-20 hours each week. Job placement is based on job availability and job skills, as well as the student’s need and desire to work.

In accordance with Alabama Community College System policy and procedures, students selected for work study positions will be required to sign a consent form and to submit to a criminal background check at no cost to the student. Employment will be contingent upon the receipt of a clearance notification from the criminal background investigation. In addition, CVCC is an active participant in the Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-verify). E-verify electronically confirms an employee’s eligibility to work in the United States as required by the Department of Homeland Security. All work study students will be processed through the E-verify portal.
